I’m Fundraising for Ballandean State School – A Community That Truly Cares

For the past 14 years, I’ve had the absolute privilege of working at Ballandean State School, and I genuinely love this community - our students, our families, and our incredible staff. Ballandean is a special place where health and wellbeing aren’t just add-ons. They are part of who we are and how we care for one another every day.

However, funding for this role hasn’t increased in 14 years. To continue providing consistent support for our students and families, our community needs to raise $15,000 each year.

Brekkie club funding

Tuesday 3rd Mar

Ballandean State School is excited to share that we have received funding to join the Schools’ Breakfast Program! Brekkie Club will run every fortnight from 8:15–8:45am with the help of the grade 5 and 6s. This provides a healthy start to the day to support learning, behaviour and engagement. A nutritious breakfast helps students concentrate and feel ready for the day ahead.

We understand some children arrive at school without breakfast, and this program helps remove that barrier in a supportive environment.

Chaplaincy Dinner

Saturday 27th Sep

I’m so thankful for our community and the way you continue to back chaplaincy in our schools.

The government provides about 70% of the funding for my role, but it’s the Granite Belt community that raises the other 30% to keep me at Ballandean. That means every apple juice labelled, every dollar given, and every event run is helping me be here for students, families, and staff.

For me, chaplaincy is about listening, supporting, and walking alongside people in both the good times and the tough ones. I couldn’t do this without your generosity and belief in the importance of having a chaplain at school.

Thank you for being part of the team that makes this possible. Together, we’re showing that our community truly values chaplains in schools.

What a blessing

Last night we had our annual Chaplaincy dinner and what a huge night. We had over 100 supporters come and support the 8 chaplains in our district. The encouragment we received will certainly boost us on for another year. Thank you to everyone who came and showed their support to this awesome part of school life.

Every three weeks we have a Community Breakfast. This is a great time with the students, parents and community members join together for breakfast. This Breakfast thanks to the support of donations from the local churches we were able to have warm porridge and milo. What better way to start a chilly winter morning.
