Chappy Neo - The Summit State School

Champion Your Chaplain

What could $5 a month do? More than you think.

☕For 1 coffee a month, you could:

  • Put a steady, caring presence in a small rural school.

  • Give a child someone safe to talk to before things spiral.

  • Support families and teachers carrying more than they should alone.

As all good farmers understand, like a crop, chaplaincy thrives with consistent support and long-term thinking. One-off donations help (please donate any amount you can), but monthly donations amount to a measurable and significant impact for years to come!

If enough people committed to a minimum of just $5 a monththe cost of one coffee, you could directly help:

  • Keep reliable chaplaincy hours at our school

  • More time spent with young people, families and staff who need support through difficult circumstances.

  • Build a sustainable chaplaincy role for years to come, not just for me, but for those who follow.

Your investment is sewn into the well-being of future generations in a community that looks after its own!

Be part of our community's legacy!
Be part of the solution!

👉Consider setting up a $5 monthly donation.

Small seed, consistently. Big impact, together.

My Updates

Don't be afraid of the RED ZONE!!

Monday 2nd Mar

I’m STOKED with the way this term has begun, stepping into chaplaincy across four unique school communities where consistent, relational support (strengthened by trusted local partnerships) is already making a meaningful difference for students, staff and families navigating complex challenges!!

At The Summit SS (which is 2 days per week), the principal has allocated structured “Chappy Health” sessions which involve 2 rotating student age groups participating in lessons on emotional literacy, regulation strategies, and conflict resolution (topics so far…) through games, discussion, and practice!

In Week 2, following a recommendation from a teacher aide, we introduced the “Zones of Intensity” concept to help our students identify emotional states and develop strategies to return to the “green zone.”!!

Within a few weeks of consistent language across staff, the impact has been SO observable:

  • Students now identify their emotional state in real time

  • Students practice breathing and slowing strategies… with staff support

  • Peer encouragement has emerged (“breathe”, “slow down” to one another)

  • Students voluntarily share emotional experiences from home or the weekends.

I have also been engaging in leadership-focused conversations with our Year 6 students, who just this past week attended the GRIP Leadership conference alongside other regional student leaders. These discussions have centred on responsibility, influence, and modelling positive behaviour within the school community.

While individual chappie conversations around emotional regulation are a regular part of the role, it has been especially encouraging to observe students collectively adopting shared regulation language and actively supporting one another in applying these strategies in real time at this school!

As we step into a new month, I’d love to invite you to partner with us again and make a donation! Your continued support for The Summit State School keeps our school community strong and supported.
